English Symphony Orchestra
Fri 29 Nov 2019
The programme opens with one of the most evergreen of string orchestra favourites, Elgar’s youthful Serenade for Strings, and continues with a modern addition to the Elgar canon – Donald Fraser’s acclaimed arrangement of Elgar’s Songs for Strings. Zoë Beyers, the ESO’s Leader, takes a solo turn in Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending, recently voted Britain’s favourite piece of classical music. The programme concludes with Tchaikovksy’s colourful Souvenir de Florence.
